FreshBooks is a small-business accounting platform. Bookkeeping, bank feeds and reconciliation, the reports an accountant asks for, working with that accountant inside the same account — that is the centre of the product.

Flowzivo does none of that. No double-entry, no bank reconciliation, no accountant seat. It produces the documents — quotes, invoices, contracts, expense records with receipts — and the reports that summarise them, and your accountant keeps the books from those.

So if the phrase «my books» describes a problem you have, stop here and keep FreshBooks. Saying this costs a page some readers and saves both of us a refund request.

Who the alternative is actually for

The consultant or freelancer whose accountant already does the books — common in much of Europe, where a fiduciary or accountant handles the year-end and you are expected to hand over documents, not ledgers. In that setup an accounting platform is a large tool used for a small part of its surface, and the part you use every week is invoicing and quoting.

It is also for the person who bills fixed-price work. A quote that becomes an invoice with the lines carried across, with optional items the client can accept or decline, is a different daily job from bookkeeping, and it is the one Flowzivo is built around.

What Flowzivo does differently

It is one page. Invoices, quotes, clients, time, contracts, expenses and reports are views in a single application rather than modules you navigate between, and the whole thing loads once. In practice that means the path from opening the tab to a finished PDF is short enough that you do it while the client is still on the phone.

And it is built for one person. There is no seat count, no permission model, no client portal to configure. Fewer things that can be set up wrongly.

Pricing, honestly

Flowzivo is 30 days free, then €9 a month or €90 a year, everything included; €19 a month if you want automatic chasing of overdue invoices. FreshBooks has several tiers with limits that have changed over the years — check their pricing page against the number of clients and features you actually need.

The comparison that matters is not the monthly figure. It is whether you are paying for bookkeeping you do not do.

The case against switching

Three cases, and all three are real. If your accountant works inside your FreshBooks account, moving means changing how they work — ask them first. If you rely on bank feeds to reconcile, there is no equivalent here. And if you have years of history in there, that history stays where it is: Flowzivo does not import it.
